About the Author

Trevor Bryce is an Honorary Research Consultant in the University of Queensland, and an Emeritus Professor of the University of New England, Australia, where he was Professor of Classics and Ancient History. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and has been awarded an Australian Centenary medal for services to History.
Although trained as a Classicist, primarily in Latin language and literature, most of his research has been conducted in the field of Near Eastern history and civilization, with some emphasis also on the links between the Classical and Near Eastern worlds. He is the author of numerous books and articles on Near Eastern history, including most recently The World of the Neo-Hittite Kingdoms.

Mercy is back and better than ever! We last saw Mercy in domestic bliss, living with Parker and daughter, Eve. (Not to mention Nelo!) This time Mercy will go to Heaven and Hell if that's what it takes to keep her daughter safe in Mercy for the Fallen. Thanks to Lucifer's interference, 3 year old Eve's use of the Grace winds her up on the evening news, and Mercy knows she has to do something to mask her power. Only how do you go about hiding something of that magnitude from divine and demon eyes alike? Plenty of old friends are back to help her find the solution: Sam, Daphne, Remiel, Gabriel, Matty, Oriana, and plenty of old enemies as well. But Mercy might find the price steeper than she wants to pay.�

This one left me teary eyed in at least three places, the sign of a sure winner in my books, and a satisfying end to Mercy's saga. Mostly I just loved seeing Adam in action again. I only hope she continues with Eve's story in the future. I can't wait to find out what happens when the Child of Light comes "of age".

Touched my soul, and made me feel both human and divine. Bravo, Lisa!

What a fantastic read!! I enjoyed every minute, and didn't want it to end. I love what Lisa Olsen does with her characters. I can vividly see them as they move through the scenes. Her latest episode of this series had me wondering how she could see heaven and hell so clearly? What an imagination---or is it a gifted insight into the otherworlds through the veil? It rang true for me, and I eagerly devoured each page. I marvel at Olsen's choice of word patterns, and appreciated the sheer poetry in motion of the passages. Her writing is evolving, as her characters move through time.

Olsen's character of Merceline, or Mercy, as we all love her, has me laughing out loud, crying my eyes out, feeling scared in the pit of my stomach, and warmed to the heart with loving grace. Her antics never cease to amaze me. I love her quick wit, her courage, her never give up attitude. She is a strong woman/angel who may not always recognize her deepest heart's desire, but has the courage to figure it out. Isn't that what we all want out of life?

Just when I would take a moment to relax, and enjoy Adamiel's apparent maturation and kind heart, things would seemingly take a turn. It kept me guessing, that's for sure! I don't know how Lisa Olsen does it, coming up with such an awesomely creative story line, but I surely appreciate reading her creations.

I just visited the Benedictine Monastery in Samos, Spain, where the angels and demons are vividly painted in lifesize color murals on the walls of the inner sanctums. I swear I was seeing Adamiel, Sam, Michael, Remiel, Mercy, Evie, Nelo and Lucifer come to life, as they are in Lisa Olsen's books. I never had seen or imagined angels with dark wings, but there they were, as real as they are in Olsen's chapters. Wow!

I look forward to what the future holds for this series, and can't wait for the next volume. Bravo, Lisa Olsen, for another best seller. This one has it all, and may be my favorite of the series--so far. Enjoy! I highly recommend this one.

Amazing story!

I didn’t know it could be done, but Lisa Olsen has taken these amazing characters and made me love them even more.

Mercy for The Fallen, the 5th in The Fallen series picks up 3 years down the road. We jump in as Mercy and Parker go about their lives as parents to Evie, with Uncle Adam making the random appearance in her life.
But what seems to be an ordinary life for these people, quickly turns into what we love about these books…lots of Angel drama!
New friends and protectors are revealed and old friends and enemies return, and once again in true Lisa Olsen fashion we get a couple of pretty epic twists thrown in there to keep us on our toes.

This book has it all, it made me laugh and cry, it made me mad and happy. Reading this book involves a plethora of emotions that you will be so glad you went through when you finish it.

If you haven’t read The Fallen series, do it! It’s so worth your time to get to meet these awesome characters, and Lisa Olsen has a way of drawing you in and making you feel like you truly do know them by the time you put the book down.

Having read Ms. Olsen's Forged Bloodline Series (and loving it), I was feeling a bit melancholy that I would have to wait a few months for the next book in that series to come out so I decided to give her Fallen Series a try. All I can say is WOW! I am so glad I did. Mercy for the Fallen was such a fun read. I don't know how much more Lisa Olsen could have packed into this book and the entire series. It is funny, at times a little sad, romantic and adventurous. All of the things I love in a good book and a great series. I highly recommend this book and all of the books in this series!

David Schmader is a writer living and working in Seattle. From 1999-2014, Schmader served as associate editor at Seattle’s Pulitzer-winning newsweekly the Stranger, writing the column Last Days: The Week in Review. The history at the beginning is interesting ... wanted more of that. The rest of it is for someone who has never smoked and is a little scared by the prospect of getting stoned, which makes this very much a beginner's guide. I wanted more of a review of weed culture because David's got the inside scoop on that and more calls to 'come out'! The recipes are a nice touch ... I'll be making that cannabutter.

This book is not written from the perspective of each religion, or from a neutral position, as it should be. I has several mistakes, and even leaves out at least one major holiday for Islam. I'm glad I had a great professor to fill the gaps.

Interesting.

Book did come in new. But since it's a paperback it does get bended along the edges after a short period of time. But then again it depends how you take care of it.
As far as the material that is given, I just finished reading about the 1st chapter on Hinduism, and it covers a whole lot of background from the earliest times to modern days.

A great guide to catch or prove innocent

It is definitely a terrible thing when someone cheats on their loved one, but it happens every day to thousands. I have been unsure for quite some time, but a lot of the signs were there. Disassociation from me, lower sex drive, wanting to spend more time out alone and have more privacy, etc. I feared the worst so I went online to see if there was any help on figuring this out without a shadow of a doubt. Most things that came up were about private investigators, charging hundreds! Well no thanks I will investigate myself, and luckily I found this book.

This book is a great recourse if you are suspecting a cheating spouse. Not only does it tell you many of the signs to look for (some I hadn't thought of), it gives you step by step instructions on proving the supposed cheater guilty or innocent. it is very obvious that the author has not only been cheated on, but really did some hardcore research on the subject.

I am happy to say that this book has actually lifted my spirits. Upon using its probing techniques I discovered that she was not cheating on me. Many of the signs she was showing match a cheaters behavior, but this was all caused by menopause. Without this book I may have gone a very long time with thinking she had cheated, and who knows what I might have done.

That is the main reason I think this book is fantastic, it can prove your most painful suspicions so you can deal with it and move on with life (The book even contains sections about legal action you can take against a spouse cheating.), or it can lead you to the other truth and clear your conscious of this terrible thing happening.

She shares what she learned in her life with us. This way you know what to look for in your spouse. She covers the usual things like nervousness, staying late at work, and taking trips. She also gives a lot of other things that could indicate a cheating spouse.

This guide covers everything. It talks about how to uncover evidence of wrong doing. It talks about the best time and way to confront the cheater. It talks about steps to take to make sure you and your kids are safe.

Honestly, anyone in a relationship should grab this and read it. It might help you discover a cheating spouse before it causes too much damage.

Finding Out the Truth about a Cheating Husband Is Hard -- Get Support

For years, I have let the question of my husband's infidelity eat me up. This book helped me gain the confidence to face my fears. In my case, it was the worst case scenario, but I am so much happier now that I know about the marriage infidelity and I'm picking up the pieces and getting on with things. It gave some great advice on what to do next, too. I would give one caveat on how to catch your cheating spouse, don't open up this can of worms without having a plan in place. This book helped me do that. I also sought the help of my friends, family, and counselor to help me get through the depression of catching a cheating husband. Not to mention, how insulted I was when I found out who he was cheating on me with!!! It was a real blow to my ego. This lady was not a supermodel to say the least.

And, if you find out you were wrong, even better! I wish that happened to me, but I would highly advise still seeking marriage counseling because there are trust issues. (The book addresses that too.)

I'm addicted to scents and usually have incense or scented candles on the go. I enjoy aromatherapy and have been buying and mixing essential oils for years ... so that's why this book caught my eye.

There are four chapters plus an introduction, a glossary, resources and a bibliography:

* Introduction - using essential oils
* Part 1: The Oils - properties of essential oils, 109 key essential oils (there's a handy chart with different oils and their uses), carrier oils (for blending), basic massage oil blends and treatment bases, and infused oils
* Part 2: Remedies - the 450 remedies are quite extensive and include a list of the essential oils to treat the ailment, treatments (how to use them) along with recipes/blends and tips
* Part 3: Aromatherapy for Daily Living - for personal care (skincare, hair care and body care), for the home and for massage
* Part 4: Practicalities - equipment and measuring and storing essential oils

For example, here is a blend for afternoon brain fatigue:

* 36 drops of rosemary essential oil
* 24 dropsof lemongrass essential oil
* 12 drops of basil essential oil

Place 12 drops in a 10ml glass bottle with a roller ball. Top up with fractionated coconut oil and shake to blend. Roll on temples, wrists and collarbones as needed. I would be inclined to also use this blend in a diffuser.

It's an excellent book for beginners and those who are more experienced.

My favorite book on essential oils

I recently got interested in essential oils. I started to learn from the internet . I believed that watching Youtube, reading the information given by essential oil companies, and Amazon"Look inside's" would be sufficient, but I quickly discovered that they left a lot of questions unanswered and also that a little knowledge is at time more dangerous than no knowledge at all, especially in terms of how to, how much and how safely use EO's. I ordered a few books and borrowed a few others at the library. The cheaper books were not not very useful. Two books came as the best: The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Worwood and this book. I much prefer this book over the Worwood's because it is better laid out and more easily approachable.
The authors present 90 EO's. Some other oils are missing because they are rare, prohibitively expensive (or maybe unsafe).So is the case for Calendula which is presented in a separate section on how to make your own infused oils. I found the reference charts for conditions and the best oils approprite for them most useful.There are sections about children, skin care, haircare, massages, recipes for cosmetics( deodorant, bath oils, scrubs, mouth wash, colognes...). The authors are very clear in the dosage and ways to use each oil/ blends and are always concerned about safety.The recipes are not extravagant as I have seen in some of the other books. I do not think I have seen blends exceeding 4 EO's. I also appreciated the fact that the information was down to earth. Some of the information I have not found in other books, like what is the difference between a water and a hydrasol (ex: rose)

All in all, this is a very thorough, useful piece of work, great for the beginner as well as the more informed.

About the Author
Barbara Rogoff is UCSC Foundation Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has been a Fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford, a Kellogg Fellow, and Editor of Human Development. Her books Apprenticeship in Thinking (OUP, 1990), Learning Together (OUP, 2001), and The Cultural Nature of Human Development (OUP, 2003) have received awards from the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association. Her current book, Developing Destinies, deepens the ideas presented in her previous books, building on her three decades of research on human development in a Mayan community in Guatemala.

Barbara Rogoff received the 2013 Award for Distinguished Contributions to Cultural and Contextual Factors in Child Development, from the Society for Research in Child Development.

Essential reading for any scientist concerned with human neurodevelopment.

We cannot understand the structure and organization of an adult human brain if we cannot account for how it developed. This beautifully written summary of a vast amount of developmental ethnography demonstrates the great diversity of human development, embedded as it is in specific cultural practices. This book should be the springboard for a host of human cognitive and neuroanthropological studies.

Culturally Complicated, But Brilliant

Rogoff's acclaimed concepts about how human development and culture naturally intertwine unfold in a highly intricate matter within this text.

Like Jerome Bruner, her prose can overpopulate itself with too many techy terms for the average educator; however, if you can push through the woods of her thick style, you will uncover many truths about culture.

As she puts forth, culture springs from the natural progression of social history and interaction. Each culture possesses its own scripts and nuances on what exists as "typical" development.

I invite anyone to delve into her mind.
